Who was Matthew Kyrillidis?
East Northport resident Matthew Kyrillidis, 17, shared a home with his mother Danielle, father Christopher Kyrillidis, and brother CJ. He was a senior at Mineola, New York’s Chaminade High School.
Matthew was Laura Marie Smith’s and Kevin (Christina) Kyrillidis’s loving nephew and the late Joseph Cecil Spargimino’s grandson. Additionally, he was Aspasia “Yiayia” Kyrillidis and Frank (Elizabeth Young) Lutz’s great-grandson. The little youngster was loved by many people at the school and was always upbeat. He excelled in academics, athletics, and extracurricular pursuits.

On September 29, 2022, Matthew Kyrillidis passed away at the age of just 17. Tragically, his death came as a surprise. His family is in deep sorrow over the passing of their little child.

Before the accident on Wednesday at approximately 3:45 p.m. Cayden Turner, the victim was a student who was walking down the street on her way to Cincinnati University for college. The student was killed when a car ran a red light and struck her as she attempted to cross the road. When the automobile struck her, a Chaminade High School student immediately died.
Along with Cayden, other pedestrians who were crossing the street suffered serious injuries. The incident lasted for a while before the police showed up. The police managed to get both daughters to the closest hospital, but Cayden Turner was already dead when they arrived, so they were unable to save her.

Visitations are scheduled for Wednesday, October 5, from 3 PM to 9 PM at the Brueggemann Funeral Home, located at 522 Larkfield Road, East Northport, NY, as part of Matthew Kyrillidis’ final rites (11731).On the following day, Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 10 AM, the funeral service will begin at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 20 Cheshire Place, East Northport, NY (11731).
The Interment will be at 11:30 AM that day in St. Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Avenue Farmingdale, New York (11735).
Other relatives who were close to him and their families are anticipated to attend the funeral. The St. Charles Cemetery will be the location of the funeral services. His cause of death has not been made public. The loss of their son shocked the entire family.
