A Missouri man was accused of raping and kidnapping a woman after allegedly holding her hostage for weeks. Let’s investigate Timothy Haslett Jr.’s identity, motivation, and history.
Who was Timothy Haslett Jr.?
A guy is suspected of kidnapping and raping a woman early on Friday in Excelsior Springs’ 300 block of Old Orchard.
Timothy Haslett Jr. has been charged with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, and second-degree assault.
The woman stated that a man named Timothy had picked her up in Kansas City at the beginning of September.
She allegedly claimed to have been held captive in a tiny chamber, according to the records. She was restrained with handcuffs around her wrists and ankles in the structure he had built in his basement. She reported that Haslett routinely violated her in the little basement room and beat her while imprisoning her. She had wounds on her back that looked like whiplash, and the paramedics had found her.
According to the court documents, they also saw that the collar that was wrapped around her neck was obstructing her breathing. Police discovered the basement chamber at Haslett’s house after executing a search warrant there. Several guns were also discovered inside the house.
Police apprehended Haslett the day after his alleged victim allegedly fled due to an unrelated animal control violation.
He is currently being prosecuted for rape, kidnapping, and violence. The victim was taken urgently to a hospital for treatment, and, according to KMBC, his status is currently stable. Detectives have not discovered any other victims despite the woman’s claims to the contrary. According to Tharp, the woman swore that Haslett killed her friends and told her grandma about it. She remarked, “He killed my friends. They were unable to succeed. My friends were killed,” Tharp said. She just kept repeating it.
Who assists Missouri women?
Ciara Tharp told NBC station KSHB in Kansas City that her grandmother heard the woman banging on the door and yelling for help at about 7:45 on Friday.
When the door was opened when she knocked because she could hear a lady screaming, the woman yelled, “You have to help me, I’ve been raped, I’ve been held captive,” according to Tharp. “You’ve got to help me,” she says.KSHB claims that Tharp’s grandmother invited her into her home. I gave her food and water, as well as a blanket.
Who was the victim?
The victim admitted to Tharp’s grandmother and a different neighbor that she lived next door to her abuser and was afraid he would kill her if he found out she had escaped. Grandma Tharp called 911, and an ambulance was dispatched to take the woman to the hospital. She told the broadcaster that she had been held hostage there since the start of September and pointed to Haslett’s residence as they traveled.
What did court documents confess about the victim’s identity?
The victim, who has not been identified, was found by the responding cops to the call while wearing latex underwear and a metal collar with a padlock around her neck, according to court documents filed on Tuesday and obtained by the local ABC affiliate KMBC News. She also had duct tape wrapped around her neck and bruises on her wrists and ankles.
Until she was able to escape the horror house on Friday, a 22-year-old woman is said to have been held captive in the basement of a Missouri man for weeks while he chained, spanked, and raped her. The alleged victim eluded capture after Timothy Haslett Jr., 39, left to drop his child off at school in Excelsior Springs. She then reportedly ran to the home of a neighbor for help while seeming undernourished and wearing a metal dog collar with a padlock around her neck. The woman, in the opinion of the woman’s neighbors, displayed clear signs of abuse.
